Jim Hytner | Chairman
Jim Hytner has been a friend of Logan Sports Marketing, and more importantly its people, for a number of years now and he was the obvious choice when the company decided to appoint a Chairman. Jim’s role is to give strategic advice and guidance to the Directors, his experience working with major global brands has helped bring a fresh perspective and wisdom to the company.
Jim joined UM, the highly acclaimed Global Media Agency, as President of its European, Middle East and African region, in 2009. He and his teams around the EMEA Network, advise clients such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Tiffany, Xbox, MasterCard, Burberry and ECCO on their marketing communication needs. The momentum in the region is palpable, with client wins at their highest level for a decade.
Prior to this, Jim had been Global Marketing Director of Barclays, from 2004 to 2009. In this role, Jim was responsible for the direction of the Barclays Global brand, as well as the commercial performance of Barclays in the UK. With his team, he negotiated the Barclays Premiership sponsorship, as well as changed the face – and tone – of Barclays branches around the world.
Before his foray into banking, Jim held numerous roles in television. He worked at ITV as Commercial and Marketing Director, where he was responsible for all consumer and customer marketing, and prior to that he held roles at Channel 5 and BSkyB, both times as Marketing Director. His first senior role in marketing was at Coca-Cola, where he worked for 4 years on red can Coca-Cola, taking the brand into music and football sponsorship in the UK for the first time. He still can't drink Pepsi.
Jim studied at Wharton Business School, where he has subsequently lectured on marketing strategy. He is a proud Trustee of Comic Relief, and Chairman of Logan Sports Marketing. More importantly, he is married to the loveliest woman on earth, and has 3 wonderful children. His only disappointment is that none of them, as yet, are as fanatical about Manchester United, as he is. He is a Mancunian and a season ticket holder of 35 years standing, so cannot be accused of glory hunting.
