Objectives

  • Magners wanted to host an event that brought together their rugby properties – London Wasps, Edinburgh Rugby and the Magners Celtic League along with their key customers

Strategy

  • Logan Sports Marketing created the Magners Cider Golf Masters as an answer to Magners’ requirements. Making use of LSM’s extensive sporting contacts, 18 recognisable rugby stars captained each team

Implementation

  • The tournament was hosted at The Oxfordshire golf club with a shot gun start for 72 golfers, followed by a golf trick show, Magners drinks reception and dinner followed by an informal Q&A. LSM provided full logistical and event management services
  • LSM provided the full Magners experience by giving each guest a range of Magners branded golf merchandise with promo teams providing on course sampling throughout the day
  • Each team was captained by a well-known rugby personality

Evaluation & results

  • Of the 72 golfers selected we only had three call-offs due to adverse weather
  • The informal yet premium event gave Magners’ customers a unique opportunity to mingle with rugby stars
  • Excellent attendance and feedback from guests prompted Magners to re-book the following year at Burhill Golf Club
