Melrose Sevens appointed Logan Sports Marketing to help re-structure their commercial package and source a new title sponsor for the renowned Melrose Sevens, where rugby sevens was born.
The world’s oldest tournament, which will take place next year on 14 April, will be called the Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens and further establishes Aberdeen’s commitment to supporting rugby and Scottish sport in Scotland and around the world.
“Aberdeen Asset Management is proud to be associated with such a historic and much loved tournament,” says Martin Gilbert, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Asset Management. “The Melrose Sevens attracts teams from not only Scotland but from all parts of the world with players keen to perform in the town where the Sevens game was born. It is a special day for players and supporters alike and it is great to be involved.”
The tournament has such a rich heritage and is no doubt the biggest sporting event in the borders and biggest Scottish rugby event outside of Murrayfield. With the inclusion of rugby sevens in the Olympic and Common Wealth Games, the profile of the game is rapidly increasing.
Dan Zaltzman, Director at Logan Sports Marketing, commented: “The Melrose Sevens is such a unique tournament and means so much to rugby in the region. Finding a title partner that has a genuine interest in supporting Scottish rugby was key and we couldn’t have hoped for a more suitable business than Aberdeen Asset Management.”
